A Neighbor Since 2001
Crossroads has operated on Park Place Blvd for 24 years, hosted by St. Paul's Episcopal Church (San Pablo's), which has served this neighborhood longer still. We are not a new presence here.
What We Do, and Why It Helps the Block
The needs that bring people to our door don't disappear when there's nowhere to meet them. They just get met in public.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM, we provide indoor restrooms, showers, laundry, and hot meals — on a schedule, in one place, with staff and volunteers present.
A person who can shower, wash their clothes, and eat indoors is a person who isn't doing those things behind a building.

Meals and showers get someone through the week. These are the services that help someone leave the street.

Verification Letters
Issued in 2025. This is the document a person needs to apply for a state ID, benefits, or housing — the paperwork that makes every next step possible.

Healthcare On Site
Harris Health mobile clinic visits in 2025. Healthcare for the Homeless and the Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD also provide care to our guests directly.
The Way Home
We work within the Coalition for the Homeless' coordinated system for Houston and Harris County, so guests are connected to regional housing resources — not just served a meal and sent along.
How We Keep the Grounds
We are guests of a working church. Keeping the property in good shape is part of the deal, and our guests know the expectations.
- Bikes, carts, and belongings stay in the parking lot — not the church's inner courtyard
- Smoking is permitted only in designated areas
- No dogs on the property
- Staff and volunteers keep the grounds clean throughout each service day
Wednesday's Food Fair Is for the Whole Neighborhood
Every Wednesday, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM, we run a Community Food Fair in the parking lot, stocked through the Houston Food Bank. Volunteers pack the groceries into boxes and hand them out — that is the whole of what happens on a Wednesday, and it is open to the general public. If groceries are tight this month, come by.

Come See for Yourself
The best answer to a question about what happens here is to come look. Neighbors, business owners, and local officials are welcome any Tuesday or Thursday morning. If you have a concern about something you have seen, we would rather hear it directly — ask for Doug.
The Need Around Us
On a single night in January 2025, more than 3,300 people were experiencing homelessness in the Houston area, and nearly one in five Harris County residents lives with food insecurity. We are one organisation on one block — the need is far larger.
