Doug Fortner
Executive Director
Near the end of a forty-year career in computer software development, design and system implementation, Doug came to Crossroads as a volunteer to help with computer operations in 2016. This initial volunteer work led Doug deeper into Crossroads operations and in 2017 the Board asked Doug to become its Executive Director. Doug has led the organization through a facility move, the COVID pandemic, and a gradual expansion of services.

John T. James, PhD
Chairman
Retired NASA Chief of Toxicology. Patient safety advocate and member of Clear Lake UMC for 35 years. He has written two books: A Sea of Broken Hearts and Response Theology. Serves as Chairperson of the Covenant Partner Team and link to the UHCL Sociology Department.
Rev. Gloria Villa Diaz, D.Min.
Secretary
Bilingual Minister at New Day in Christ Ministries, pastoring individuals who are incarcerated, and presbytery pastor at Trinity Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She became Secretary of the Board ten years ago. After a year on the Board, she realized her call was to help clients see God next to them, restoring their humanity through prayer, reading, and worship.
Frank C. Turner, CPA
Treasurer
Frank has been involved in CFO and controller positions for oil and gas E&P companies for 30 years and is currently a practicing CPA with eepb cpas.

Retired engineering manager from the chemicals industry. Member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Serves on the board pursuing grants for the organization.
Katie Richey
Firmly committed to serving those without housing or experiencing food insecurity. Based on her work at a covenant partner church, she brings hands-on experience in community ministry. Interim Director of the Family Ministry at Clear Lake United Methodist Church.
Bryan Mayfield
Army combat veteran and stroke survivor. His professional background is based in IT services, including serving as an IT Manager for a major oil company.
Stormy Mayfield
Native Houstonian and Senior Counsel at Peckar & Abramson, a national construction law firm, with experience in construction, government contracting, and labor and employment.
Steve R. Smith
Background in web development and digital marketing. Creator of gofind.help, unhomed.info, and systemsofpoverty.info. Serves on the board to help strengthen Crossroads' digital presence and community outreach.
Lon Tiemann
Retired commodity trader now working to learn through serving others in the community. Former Crossroads Board Chair and current or former board member of Aha!, Restoring Justice, and Call of Duty.
Margaret Snyder
Born and raised in Pasadena, Texas, Margaret studied accounting at San Jacinto College and raised four children. She attends First Baptist Church of Pasadena. She joined the board in 2026, drawn to Crossroads as the place in Houston where people can meet their basic needs and be offered a hand up and real help.
